About Me: Hi i am Cecilia. I am from a small town in Sweden call Uppsala. I moved to Stockholm about ten years ago. I’m trying to work out as much as possible and giving myself new challenges. This year I have been training for a marathon in Malaga. Really scary I must say. Its’ not the funniest to go out and run here in Sweden during autumn. Yes it’s cold and and rainy an windy. Hope Malaga has better weather in December. But I'm actually not real training freak, I just have to since I love stinky cheeses and wine. Have a daughter in her teens, a bonus daughter and a partner, as you call Modern Family.
Why I opened my own business: My first work after becoming Skin therapist was at SugarMe esthetics. Were I had the luck to meet Aimee. She learned me how to Sugar and became not just a colleague but also a good friend and business partner. We noticed that Sweden didn't have the best education for sugaring, so we decided to open up a serious education for Body sugaring with best products. We tried out a bunch of different brands and Tamaras is absolutely the best and love we working with it. I started my Skin therapist education here in Stockholm also, and I love my job. Its so appreciated by all the clients and its a pleasure to help clients with different kinds of problem. And meeting new interesting people is kind of the best.
Why I love Sugaring: To run my own business is hard work and we far away to what we want to achieve, but it’s so fun along the way. We are able to affect and customize exactly how we want to it be. And as all know that sugaring is the best hair removal treatment, its even more fun to do something you are passionate about.
I am interested in or I am inspired by:
The things that inspire me is actually my clients. I get new ideas by just talking to them and listening to things they might wish for or what they appreciate. It kind of make you thinking what needed out there.
Favorite Quote: My favorite quote is in Swedish "fint folk kommer alltid försent" in English some thing like "fashionably late". Im ..yes, a real time optimist. But I've promised my family to be better, so I'm working on it:)

About Me: My love of “all things hair” began eight years ago when I became a licensed cosmetologist. Having spent the majority of my career in an exclusive Aveda salon I fell in love with all natural products. I felt better knowing that I was using great, from-the-earth products on myself and my clients as well as supporting and eco-friendly company. I have made it my mission the last 3 years to spread the word on using all natural hair and body products and then I found sugaring, the all natural hair removal product! Growing up in southern California where the weather is hot and a lot of time is spent in shorts I found myself having to shave everyday to minimize that 5 o’clock shadow on my legs. Not fun. Once I learned about sugaring and all the benefits with the treatments being less painful, longer lasting results, great exfoliation AND using all natural products, I was sold. My mission is to spread the word to all the ladies and gentleman out there that you can be hair free naturally.
Why I opened my own business: I opened my own business because I have always wanted to be my own boss. I have worked hard since I was 16 years old, with no breaks in between then and my now 26 years of life. Owning my own business has always been the end goal, although I never knew my business would be body sugaring. I just knew that I wanted it to be mine and mine alone. Something that I could grow and nurture into something that was successful and that I was proud of . I will continue to work and grow my business as I love sugaring and I believe in all it's benefits. I love my clients and I always strive to inform them and newcomers to sugaring about all the amazing benefits sugaring has to offer!
Why I love Sugaring: As a person who has fair, sensitive skin I have never been a fan of waxing. My skin would feel raw after being waxed and the pain was unbearable. When I learned about sugaring I was amazed at how smooth my skin was as I felt that the result was much "cleaner" than waxing with no stubble or sticky residue left behind(which would happen a lot with waxing.) I also felt as though my skin wasn't being ripped off which was a huge plus! Being a licensed cosmetologist I decided to become certified in sugaring through Tamara's and have continued to spread the word on all sugaring has to offer!
I am inspired by: Women is business. Every time I meet a woman who has their own business or even just has something that is theirs, their thing, inspires me. I love speaking with women who lead these amazing fulfilled lives all because they made it happen by taking the steps to getting to what they want and how they want to live their lives.

About Me: I love tea, film noir, and foggy morning bike rides. I spend my free time taking excursions with my husband and my amazing Boston Terriers Ike and Dinty!
How I discovered Sugaring: I read about Sugaring while I was in beauty school. I decided to try instead of waxing, which is what I had been doing previously, and once I had it done, I KNEW I MUST LEARN THIS AMAZING ART!!!
Why I opened my own business: Life nudges you in directions you may not know you are ready for at the time, but you just have to be open to possibility. I was dreaming about opening my own business as a long term goal, but it ended up happening much sooner when the company I worked for transitioned out of state and I chose to see opportunity rather than setback. You HAVE to believe in yourself. Your business is your baby, and seriously... nobody is ever truly ready to have a baby. Of course once you do, you get no sleep, wouldn’t change it for the world, and are totally happy you did.
My Favorite thing about running my own business: Having my own business allows me to keep the standards that I would want as a customer. It’s really important to me that I deliver an experience that I would truly enjoy.
I love: Solving problems, dreaming up new ideas, and connecting with clients.
Why I love Sugaring: I love that I perform a service that converts people into hairless proselytizers of sugaring. I have NEVER had a client go back to waxing after getting sugared. It simply doesn’t happen. The service we provide is all natural, less painful and delivers better results. It doesn’t get any better than that!!!!
I am interested in: Well my passion is people, so currently I’m super excited about teaching sugaring. I’ve always wanted to teach, so this is a perfect way to connect with a growing community new of Sugaristas!
I am inspired by: The theory that laughter may have predated speech.
Best piece of advice I can give: Do your best, admit when you’re wrong, and be yourself. When you are genuinely yourself, you’ll manifest the people that love you and want to be around you. Don’t ever be afraid to be the only one that feels that you can do it, because you CAN (and because coffee!!!!!).
Favorite Quote: “Beauty is power, a smile is its sword.” - John Ray
Favorite Go To Beauty Brands: Currently I’m using the Beauty Archaeology Repair Balm and Tamara’s exfoliating pads for my sugaring needs for ingrowns and exfoliation. For the face, I use Lillie Sabine moisturizer and Aveda energizing eye cream. I seriously do only my brows and mascara on an everyday basis, so I use a universal Brow pencil from Billion dollar brows and Lush’s wheatgrass mascara with Aveda eyeshadow. I”m a super low maintenance gal, so it makes for a quick morning. I would rather snuggle my dogs and drink coffee spend a bunch of time getting ready, so I rely on really quick and quality fixes.

About Me: I'm an Alaskan raised mom of 3. I moved to Portland 5 years ago and absolutely love it here! I decided to make a career change 3 years ago and am so thrilled that I did. Natural skincare has always been a passion of mine and needed a new career path that I felt excited about. I opened my studio, Sugar Sugar, in my SE Portland neighborhood in early 2016 and have had a blast growing it! When I'm not working, I stay busy being Mom and adventuring with my family.
Why I opened my own business: Opening Sugar Sugar seemed a natural direction for me to go after owning a business up in Alaska for 10 years. It was a new career for me though; and unlike anything I had done before. It took me awhile to really feel ready. It was hard to make the career shift and hard for me to figure out how to juggle parenting and a new entrepreneurial project! Ultimately I knew it was what was best for me to allow flexibility for parenting, and I missed having my "thing" that I took pride in and grew on a daily basis. At this point I am so glad I took the leap and LOVE coming into the studio and working with amazing clients every day!
Why I love Sugaring: I love that sugaring is natural, safe, better for the skin, and better for the environment. I love that it is a unique service to provide and how excited people are when they come to try it for the first time and their hair removal world is changed!
I am inspired by: Women entrepreneurs. When I'm feeling overwhelmed I love connecting with other women in business to talk it out, inspire, and encourage one another!

I am a working Esthetician, I rent a room at Porcelain Hair Studio, in beautiful downtown Huntington Beach. I specialize in Sugaring and Skincare. I've been Sugaring for 5 years now and it has completely changed my business, for the better. I have been an Educator for Tamara's for 2 years now and I love sharing my experience and expertise with students, I get joy out of it.
How I became an Entrepreneur: I became an Entrepreneur after working in this business for other people for several years, gaining experience and knowledge of how the business works. I'm a self starter and full of ideas, now I am able to try them all, and refine as needed. I love working in a busy hair salon, it has clients coming through the door constantly and it's a great way to build my business. I feed off the energy of it all. I have flexibility with my schedule and I like that a lot, I find my peace in the balance of hard work, and pursuing other interests. I am always continuing my education and looking for ways to improve my services. The beauty industry is where I was designed to be.
Why I love Sugaring: I love Sugaring! Like I mentioned already, I'm a self proclaimed Sugar Evangelist. I want to spread the word far and wide about this amazing natural way to remove hair. We do not need to traumatize the skin, just because we have unwanted hair. Sugaring goes along with my philosophy in life, let's be kind and better to ourselves and our skin. Life can be so stressful, I love finding ways to minimize that. I have two slogans that are on my printed material for my studio 1. Haven't you heard? Sugar is the new Wax! 2. Anything you can wax, you can Sugar! I'm doing my very best to spread the love and the word about Sugaring!
I am interested in or I am inspired by: I am interested and inspired by kindness, generosity and living in a way that I can stand behind, no matter what. I fall short sometimes, sure I do, but that is the goal, one I'm always striving for.

Name: Aimee Kellerman
Studio: Savvy Sugaring Nordic Distribution & SugarMe Esthetics
City: Stockholm, Sweden
About Me: I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada. Got sugared since I could first grow hair down there. Went to beauty school in 2007 and in the program you have to learn waxing. Since I was first a sugaring client I had already felt the benefits of sugaring first, so choosing sugaring for my future clients was a no-brainer!
Jump forward a few years, I decided to enroll as a skin therapist aboard at the time the world’s largest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean. It was the hardest work of my life- engaging in long hours and only 1 day off a week. It was also the BEST time of my life and I grew more than ever as a person and as a skin therapist. I constantly reached top sales targets and highest client comment rating in the entire fleet, receiving an award. I completed two 9 month contracts, and met the love of my life while working abroad. My now husband, is Swedish so I picked up my life and moved to Stockholm. Nearly 7 years later I am still here and I have a beautiful 1 year old boy who teaches me constantly about myself and about being the best mother for him. Having a child has taught me so much patients and encourages me to find a healthy happy balance between work life, family life, and a tiny bit of me time.
How I became an Entrepreneur: When I first moved to Sweden sugaring was nowhere to be found! It was my deepest desire to bring the world’s best hair removal method to Stockholm.
Why I opened my own business: Working for myself allowed me to spread my passion for all things natural and related to skin care!
How I discovered my passion for Sugaring: By working with sugaring, I am able to teach all my clients about how important it is to have good skin condition to achieve the best hair removal results. When I talk about something I am passionate about I often get very excited!
Why I love Sugaring: Let’s face it! In todays world, who has time to sit around and wait for results. Taking in Tamara’s Professional Body Sugaring Organic Range, simply complimented our salons philosophy of being Organic and their homecare with plant based & natural ingredients. The consistency of the Organic range is outstanding quality and able to work with it longer especially on our Swedish dry skin types. Since most of our clients used to do waxing, the often compare the results of sugaring vs. waxing. The # 1 reason why most of our clients never look back to waxing is because the sugaring simply hurts A LOT less and does not harm the skin like waxing does. Thanks to the sugaring being water-soluble its not able to attach to live, healthy skin cells (therefor not hurting) and only removing dead skin cells, and hairs of course! And best of all by removing the hair in the natural direction, which for our old waxing clients- it allows us to retrain the hair follicle to start growing in its natural direction, and helping to eliminate in-grown hair problems that waxers typically have. Oh the JOYS of sugaring!!! Nothing but benefits, benefits, benefits!
I am interested in or I am inspired by: Result driven, natural services. At our beauty salon we offer: Sugaring (duh! of course!), YonKa Paris skin care range & facial & body treatments (Sweden's YonKa flagship salon, 1st to offer YonKa), we offer the CACI Ultra Non-Surgical Facelift treatment (getting a "lift" using micro-current & other technology), Mega-White Blue Fusion teeth whitening (express & no pain! & natural ingredients) and also Micro dermabrasion. Top booked service: The brazilian sugaring! Doesn't matter the time of the year, we all like to feel fresh down there!
Best piece of advice I’ve ever received: Fear = Failure!
Best piece of advice I can give: Live life like it’s your last and have no regrets! It doesn't matter which path you have chosen, learn and grow from all your experiences both good and bad. Life is simply too short.
My favorite go to beauty brands: Skin Care: YonKa Paris (taking science & nature together). Make-up: MAC minerals!
A bit more about my business: I own a beauty salon in the city centre of Stockholm which was one of the first salons to offer sugaring in all of Sweden. When I first started out I gained just a handful of clients through an event I threw. Those 5 clients experienced sugaring for the first time ever, and they told all their friends and colleagues. The sugaring world went viral! After just 1 year I was overly booked and it was time to expand. Moved to our larger location, and now offering all things natural but driven for results. Let’s face it! In today’s world, who has time to sit around and wait for results. After working with Tamara’s sugar for some time, my business partners & I decided to take on the Distribution for Tamara’s sugar for the Nordic countries.

About Me: Empowering people to love themselves is my passion. Fall in love with every part of yourself is my vision statement. My mission is to provide a compassionate environment that promotes safety and trust.
Why I opened my own business: I opened my own business because working at other spas left me incredibly unsatisfied. My experience with co-worker's being late, not cleaning up after themselves, not properly disinfecting tools or work areas, and Spa Management not being honest with clients about products and services they were charging for. I wanted control over all of that, so I ventured out on my own. I'm so glad I did. My clients feel appreciated.
How I discovered my passion for sugaring: In March 2015 I invested in an intensive 4-day class in the Seattle area. At the time, my intention was to add it to my hair removal menu. I fell in love with sugaring. Sure, at first it was awkward and painful to learn everything anew. The results, the reduction in waste, the happy clients, and the ease of clean up are the top reasons I removed wax from my menu altogether. I can't even imagine waxing anyone again. It seems barbaric to me now. When I was waxing I would create 10 - 13 gallons of landfill waste every day. Now I create approximately 4 gallons of biodegradable waste per week. This makes my heart happy. Clean up with wax was such a pain and required smelly chemicals to get to the level of cleanliness that makes me happy. Now I just wipe down my room with a hot towel and it's clean. I love it.
I am inspired by: I am inspired by people who genuinely care for themselves and others. Sometimes it takes a moment to settle into a new idea or personality, but we all have our own contributions to this world. I want to honor my own, as well as yours.

About: Hello! My name is Angela Lark and I am located in Southern California, where I have two locations of my business. I got introduced to sugaring back in 2007 at a skin care show and was so excited and eager to get started as soon as I finished school. Being a mom of one of an almost three year old, I knew I never wanted to work for anybody so I could create my own hours and be available to her. Married at the time, I went home very excited and talked all about the sugar in process! people thought I was a little crazy because no one had heard about it and I knew I had an edge on the market if I was to really pick up this art of hair removal. I was eager to get started and although I did not train with Tamara in the beginning, I learned my basics. From there it has been an amazing experience. I decided to become an educator because I am expanding my business and I would rather train my staff and introduce this practice to everyone as I feel the nation should know about sugaring. Last year I left my little one room in a mom and pop hair salon and took a step out on faith and encouragement from friends, family and clients and trained and hired staff to move into my own location where we provide several services but always the focus is on the sugaring. I now currently have two locations and I am hoping to become bicoastal this year as The East Coast is my home away from home. my daughter is now almost 12 and I love being able to travel with her, be there for her with school and her activities. I love to cook, entertain when possible, garden and live a healthy and active lifestyle. Business ownership and being a single mom can be extremely hectic so exercise helps a lot!!
I'm always happy to meet fellow Sugarista along the way. That actually how I met Stephanie The Sugarista! I was in Portland four years ago and was looking to meet another Sugarist! Who would have thought that four years later she would be heading up the education aspect of Tamara's in the U.K. even!
Happy to be part of this team of educators!
How I became Entrepreneur: I love the idea of more than my two hands working and making money for me. I also love the opportunity to give women a very good living as I pay very fair and take care of my staff. I also believe that we should make waxing obsolete in the U.S. because it is so damaging in so many ways. I think big and My PR team is always telling me that I am building a sugaring empire! Also,I love to travel and I love bringing my daughter with me so she can see how the rest of the world lives and that has always been one of my biggest motivations-How can I enrich her life?
Why I love Sugaring: I love sugaring because I love educating people and introducing them to something so different and so superior to other forms of hair removal. Also I just love my clients! All the people I come in contact with make my life sweet, so to speak. We have a lot of fun at work so it doesn't seem so much like work. I love all the satisfied clients that we have and all the referrals that we get from Yelp and from other clients. The trust and loyalty they have in us is such a fulfilling feeling!
I am inspired by: Other female entrepreneurs. I have three sisters and two of them are entrepreneurs as well. I am inspired by people who live life to the fullest and are willing to take chances and risks because they have a strong belief in themselves. I am starting to read up on management and expansion because I want to be a great manager and organized in my projects.
Best advice I've ever received: Take care of your staff and they will take care of your clients and you.
Best advice I can give: Believe in yourself and if you can dream it, you can achieve it!
Favorite Quote: Courage is fear that has said it's prayers.
My favorite go to beauty brands: I always go to cruelty free products first. This year, I was introduced to a organic vegetarian skin care line based out of Seattle Washington called OHA. I love the way it feels on my skin and of course how it smells! I was also introduced to a wonderful hair care line as my hair is not naturally red! it's called Gem Lites-it's paraben and cruelty free and it really holds color well! A bit more expensive even with the wholesale discount, but totally worth it!

Studio Name: The Sugarista - Formerly based in Portland, Oregon. I now run London Sugaring Company, a training and distribution business.
City: Nottingham, UK
About Me: Hi, I'm Stephanie and I've spent the last decade paving my own path as an Entrepreneur in the Sugaring world. I left a desk job in 2007 to attend Esthetics school and dive into an interest I had for Natural Skincare. It was there that I first learned about Body Sugaring. The rest is history! I've taken my passion for this amazing technique and focused all of my energy and effort into becoming one the the US top experts and Educators in Body Sugaring.
This year I decided to follow my heart and a deep sense of opportunity to the UK where I currently teach and distribute Tamara's Organic Sugar Paste! Sugaring has barely hit the market in the UK and I intend to spread the word far and wide. I also return to the US regularly to work with Studios and host training classes. So, if you've been thinking about learning how to Sugar in the US or UK, I am definitely your gal!
I also work closely with Tamara Anderson, of Tamara's Sugar as the Director of Education & International Distribution. This year we are expanding Educator and Practitioner Education through my new Online Learning platform!
Two things that are always on my mind: Travel and business! Next year I celebrate 10 years as an Entrepreneur.
One thing I am really proud of: The community of Sugaristas that I've trained and worked with over the years. I've had the opportunity to help build a flourishing community of Sugaring practitioners and business owners in Portland, Oregon and beyond. I've also had the pleasure of training schools throughout the US and working abroad in Italy and the UK.Why I opened my own business:
Things I love: In addition to my love for the sweet Sugary stuff I've also created my own Natural Body Care Line called Beauty Archaeology that retails online and in Sugaring Studios throughout the west coast. I studied Aromatherapy in NYC and learned the magical art of blending essential oils for skin care and well- being. I loooove yoga, astrology, dance parties, retreats, open water swimming and my very handsome Italian hubby.

How I became an Entrepreneur: I often joke that I became an entrepreneur by accident. While climbing the corporate health care ladder, I developed an unpleasant skin condition that caused perpetual inflammation and redness. After years of suffering, I needed to get to the bottom of it all and the conventional methods just weren’t working. With that, I said goodbye to my career in corporate and enrolled in an Esthetician program. The rest is history!
How I discovered my passion for Sugaring and Skincare: Just when I thought I had exhausted all avenues to solve my skin issues, I discovered a very simple solution. My skin was a reflection of everything that I put into my body and taking a balanced, conscious, and holistic approach was life changing. Altering everything from my breakfast to my beauty products finally provided the answers and relief I was seeking. This change would not only become my skin’s solution, but also my professional calling!
Why I opened my own business: As my inflammation and irritation dissipated, my interest in natural beauty and the organic beauty industry blossomed. From researching the benefits of natural hair removal and embracing elements of a plant-based lifestyle, I became living proof that natural alternatives really can nurture the skin back to life and I wanted to share my passion with others. It was then that I also realized that the traditional waxing methods that were available at other salons just wouldn’t cut it for my new found lifestyle. Enter the wonderful ancient art of sugaring goodness!
My Favorite thing about running my own studio: Offering clients something different and unique in a market that’s saturated with sameness was always appealing to me and I don’t think I could have entered the esthetic world any other way. The ride has been fun, challenging, and rewarding and I wouldn’t change a thing!
I love: Anyone who knows me well knows I am a total neat freak. In my spare time, I help friends and family re-organize small spaces to help with clutter and actually love it! I also love yoga, interior design, clean living, and waking up with no regrets.

City: Portland, Oregon
About Me: I run two charming skincare studios in Portland Oregon. I am an ex model turned yogi that spends my time teaching fitness classes and educating my clients on skincare as well as holistic approach to self care. I am an ambassador for body positivity and radical self acceptance. When I opened doors to The Sugar Mama I wanted a place where guests can get sugaring, organic facials and holistic services for a fair price. A portion of all proceeds go to The Oregon Conservatory to help preserve our mother Earth. I love my community and I'm so happy to be able to bring sugaring to my neighborhood and to give back to the forests that Oregon is known for.
How I became and Entrepreneur: I have always worked well independently and I always knew I wanted to work for myself. My spa is definitely one of many dreams I had but it's definitely one I did not have the courage to pursue in the beginning. I set short term goals, one month, then 3, 6 then a year. I realized after a year and a half of setting these goals perhaps I'd never feel "ready", I needed to take the plunge. I haven't looked back since. Being a person of color, a female, and a small business owner has been the biggest dream come true!
How I discovered my passion for skincare: I didn't know I'd be a skincare specialist. Although all the signs were there. I wasn't allowed to shave so I started buying waxing kits at grocery stores when I was 14. I was obsessed I tried everything in the book. I made all the rookie mistakes, but eventually I got in to my groove. When I was in my 20s and modeling I was living in Miami waxing all of my girlfriends for swim season. By then I was a natural at removing hair and treating ingrowns for different skin types. I graduated with honors at The Aveda Institute and got my sugaring certification. I always thought the pain, redness and irritation was a part of the whole beauty process. I'm so glad now I can offer a service that is less painful with less irritation. I've been removing hair from my body and others for more than half my life. I love what I do!
Why I opened my business: I wanted to bring sugaring to my community. Although it is a growing business, there are still just a handful of sugarers and educators in my area. Portland is one of the most desirable places to move at thr moment and our city is expanding. I wanted to be a catalyst for growth and change. You don't have to get your skin lifted to remove hair. You don't have to use chemicals. I look forward to growing my business and encouraging those around me in my small sugaring community to do so as well.
Why I love Sugaring: My favorite thing about running my own business is the wonderful connections I make. My space is small and intimate and I just love all the beautiful smiling faces that add friendship and laughter to my day. I love sugaring because from one hairy girl to the next, it's such a treat to find a natural form of hair removal that refines hair with minimal irritation, and lasts much longer than shaving and waxing.
I am inspired by: I am inspired by women, all types, supporting, uplifting and inspiring one another.

About Me: I moved to Portland 20 years ago from Alaska and haven’t ever wanted to turn back. The culture of creativity here was exactly what i was craving as a child up North, so I knew this was my true home. Being an esthetician wasn’t my first career. I started as a home loan assistant many many years ago with a consistent 9 - 5, health insurance covered type of job. The people I worked with and bringing a smile to many for their new home was great, but was not quite filling up my creative and love of interacting with people side. So when the market crashed a good friend, who was a hair stylist, said being an esthetician was a perfect for me. I went right into beauty school and knew hair removal was my path.
How I discovered my passion for Sugaring and Threading: I have been threading for a couple of years and wanting to open my own business. I knew that adding hair removal of the full body would open up so many doors, but didn’t like waxing at all. I knew just a little bit about Sugaring but had a feeling it was the perfect fit for my business. They are both old techniques that are all natural and safe for the skin. So then I was like….where do I learn how to do that? Just a few days after talking to a good friend about it she found a link to a Sugaring class held by Stephanie King. I have been working with sugar a lot and love how little the skin reacts, but even more is how shocked my clients are on how little it hurts. Nothing better than saying...it’s made with only Sugar, lemon juice and Water!
I Love: Meeting up with friends for coffee, yoga classes, shopping for antiques, rafting, hiking, living in Portland, eating yummy food around town with friends, going to live shows, dancing and loooove shaping some eyebrows.
Why I love Sugaring: I love that sugaring is all natural and water soluble. I like that it pulls the hair in the same direction of growth to keep the hair from breaking off. It’s great that clients can come in before feeling like hairy beast because it removes hair so much shorter than waxing. Being body temperature is great because there isn’t any risk of burning the skin or major skin irritation. It is amazing that it isn’t harmful to the earth and has so much less waste since we’re not using cotton strips to pull it.
Best piece of advice I’ve ever received: I was told to write out an ideals list for my business. To do research on who was around me doing the same thing or at least similar, then look out and about at business all over and get ideas from them too. Then look into what it is it I like about their business and website, and what don't I like.

About Me: Hi, I am Michelle. I feel very blessed to be in an amazing industry! My passion is in skin care and sugaring with a focus on natural, organic products with some science. I am an ambassador for Lipstick Angels, a non-profit organization. In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. At DermaGarden Spa, we use fresh herbs, flowers and oils in lieu of today's processed skin care. We offer skin care customization through our complexion bar. Our sugaring services have been an amazing addition in this holistic approach.
Why I love Sugaring: I discovered my passion for Sugaring when I realized there had to be a better hair removal method and technique that focussed on the skin as well. When I discovered sugaring for the first time and all the amazing benefits I knew I had to immediately incorporate this in my treatment room and educate my client's.
Why I love Sugaring: I love the art of sugaring, it's a great holistic approach to hair removal with a focus on client's skin by using a natural product. How sweet is that!

About Me: Hello friends! We are an outdoorsy, wild bunch with an unquenchable thirst to experience life! I am a proud wife of 17 years to my twin flame Kurt and the Momma Bear to two beautiful guys, Kaden a lover of all things Fly Fishing and Karson who loves all things adventure!! I am also a Momma to two little ladies of the four legged variety, our sweet little Pug, Gracie and our English Cream Retriever, Willow. When I am not with my tribe you can find me hitting up some Yin Yoga or perusing the local downtown shops trying to find some locally curated treasures!
How I discovered my love for Esthetics: By having one of the very best Estheticians in the world in my book, Erin. Not only did she work magic on my skin but she educated me! Sometimes hearing what I may not have wanted to! But always knowing I could trust her to give me the most educated advice, which she did and continues to.
I knew it was something I eventually wanted to do, but finding the time with having two littles was tough, so I decided to wait until my boys were teenagers. I always knew I wanted my clients experience to be calming, nurturing and luxurious. I realized quickly that my ladies wanted hair removal! I knew that I did not want to offer waxing! But what else was I going to do do?! I researched and researched. I wanted something I could offer my health compromised clients and found it! The holy grail! Sugaring! Not only was it safe even for some of my health compromised clients, but it was luxurious, Organic and just beautiful to watch be applied to the skin and far less traumatic and painful like Waxing. I am a total fan and each client that receives a Sugaring experience agrees! In my practice I specialize in Oncology Skincare and Health Compromised Skin care all Holistically centered. I truly believe in Whole body wellness. I use a stunning line Beauty Archaeology that pairs beautifully with Body Sugaring, I use Osmosis Pur Skin care for my Oncology clients and Province Apothecary - Coming Soon! As my studio’s signature line.
Why I opened my own business: I opened my own business because I knew I wanted to offer my clients the very best experience and I wanted to be in control over what that experience looked like and I wanted to be as Eco friendly as possible and to use all Organic and Biodynamic products for the health and safety of my clients as well as myself.
My Favorite thing about running my own skincare studio: I love that my schedule is client focused I can take as much time as I want with each client and not have to answer to anyone. I can have a schedule that is tailor made for me and my clients.
Why I love Sugaring: Its organic, safe, and far less painful than its counterpart Waxing.
I am inspired by: All of my fellow lady entrepreneurs that are out there movin' and groovin' with their businesses and balancing their ever growing families! The ones that uplift and support one another! That is pure Magic!
Best piece of advice I can give: There is no such thing as failure! Each experience good or bad is leading us to our divine destiny.

About Me: I love spending time fishing, gardening and traveling with my husband and our youngest son, who's in high school. I also love every moment we have to spend enjoying our two adult children, their spouses and our seven (soon to be eight) grandkids. When there's any time left, I like to unwind with a good book or just watch TV.
How I became Entrepreneur: I truly believe that I was born an Entrepreneur, and I discovered my passion for skin care while working as an independent consultant for Color Me Beautiful -- the first cosmetic company to popularize seasonal color analysis for makeup and clothes. During weekly training calls, I realized that many of the other consultants were Estheticians; and I wanted to step up my game and get professional training in skin care. I wanted to gain knowledge about product ingredients and how they affected the skin to be able to better help my clients find solutions to their skin care concerns. My favorite thing about running my own business is knowing that I never have to subject myself to monotony. Every day brings a new challenge, a new experience and a new opportunity to impact the lives of my clients in a positive way!
Why I Love Sugaring: I became certified in sugaring before finishing my schooling in esthetics, and sugaring has been my only method of hair removal since converting my business from an image consulting studio to a skin care center in 2013. I love sugaring because it is all natural, and provides results that are far superior to waxing. Sugaring actually helps my clients improve the condition of their skin, and I get really excited about clients who convert from waxing after their first time sugaring.

Name: Tajina Rocke
Studio:Bare Bodies Sugaring & Wax
City + State: Floral Park, NY
About Me: Hi, My name is Tajina Rocke and I am the proud owner of Bare Bodies Sugaring & Wax, located in Floral Park,Ny. I've always had a passion for skincare and hair removal but really didn't know this was an actual career until I turned 30 years old. Prior to be becoming my true self I worked as a bank manager for 10 years and hated my last 2 years. I was so unhappy that I lost all integrity and let my work show the lack of care I had, and it all ended. My husband transferred his job back to New York and I took a year off to find myself. One day my best friend asked me if I wanted to get a Brazilian with her, and I scared NO!(LOL) She finally got me to go and I loved it. I continued to go and started to ask questions, because I couldn't believe this was an actual career.
Upon my journey of finding myself I enrolled in a wax certification course to get licensed to become a wax specialist. I became certified and started working at European Wax Center as a wax specialist, but I knew that's not where I wanted to end my journey. I re-enrolled and went to school for Esthestics. That opened a new world, and I found my place in this world.
Why I opened my own business: Once I graduated from school I decided to leave European Wax Center and rent a small room in my local hair salon. I focused primarily on hair removal when I opened.
How I discovered my passion for sugaring: I learned about the art of sugaring during my wax certification and knew that they were no local resources to learn this form of hair removal. I was interested but what could a girl do? So, I put it in the back of my mind but didn't think that I would learn the art. One day I was Listening to Stephanie Laynes and she was talking about other forms of hair removal that may or may not work for your clients. I have excessive hair growth on my chin, so my ears perked up because this was me. I was waxing but it just wasn't enough. So, Stephanie mentions she has a sugarist that she visits often and how it has been an amazing experience. I hopped online and looked for the closest person that could sugar me. Long behold, there was only one young lady. I booked my appointment and the first time was amazing. My chin hair took longer to grow back than it ever had when I was waxing. So, I continued to go to this young lady and I would ask her how she learned to sugar, but she gave me the run around. I was determined to learn now because I know my sugarist could learn then why not me. I had a book full of clients that could benefit from sugaring and I knew if this changed my life then I wanted to do the same for my clients. After months of asking my sugarist for help and she didn't want to help me at all, I went online and looked up a few companies. I found this company and I ordered my first set of sugar. Once, it arrived I sat in my treatment room for hours trying to learn this sugaring technique. I watched youtube videos, what few they were? I practiced on my arms, legs, hands, and toes until I though I mastered it. (LOL) let's just say it was rather painful in the beginning. Overtime, I became more comfortable and started practicing on my close friends and family. Then, one day I receive an email from my insurance company about an online interview with the Sugar Mama. I registered for the interview and once it was over purchased my certification for sugaring. I became certified and help change people’s lives one chin at a time.
Why I opened my business: I opened my business to help women, men, gay, straight, transgender, and all colorful people to have a place to be who they are and feel safe and free to do so safely. I opened because I want to help everyone that didn't feel like there is anything they can do with their skincare issues. I opened for the person that wanted to see results and have tried everything but sugar. I opened because I know how it feels to look in the mirror and be ashamed because of the facial hair that won't go away. I just want to help!!!
Why I love running my business: Because it’s mine and I know that what I am doing is making a difference in people’s lives.
Why I love Sugaring: I love love love sugaring because it has real results. Unlike other hair removal techniques it really does what is says. It helps reduce hair growth, reduce the density in hair, lightens skin that is discolored, exfoliates, and it leaves your skin baby smooth.
I am interested in: Teaching others the art of sugaring and other forms hair removal.
I am inspired by: Change and growth, in others and myself.

Studio: Phiz Spa
City: Salem, Oregon
About Me: I’m a proud entrepreneur of a growing business in Salem, Oregon. I’m married to my job and love it. I come home to a handsome friend beast, my dog, Ren. He’s named after Kevin Bacon’s character in Footloose but doesn’t really have any good dance moves. Outside of making my spa great and scratching my pups ears I spend as much time as I can with friends and family. I enjoy golfing, traveling to new places all over the world and sitting around with friends drinking wine.
I love: I really do love my job. And I love creating new and better ways of providing quality service and product. Recently I was able to expand my spa; train and empower new technicians, create a beautiful location for our clients and I was able to start my own product line, a 10+ year dream realized. I love putting my stamp on my industry and community.
Best piece of advice I’ve ever received: I was once told that there are 3 C's to doing or having a great job. Character, Competency and Chemistry.
Sometimes I think my clients come to me because there is something about my character that they like (heard about phiz's earth consciousness, reviews, read about an award, etc..) and more often than not come back for more because of my competency. But something that seems almost impossible to manufacture is the chemistry.
Chemistry is an explainable bond usually shared with only a few people in your lifetime... And yet, people come in by the droves thinking that I'm not just their sugarer but their 'friend'. They bring in gifts, invite me to their weddings, and are sad when they move away…I think one of the ways I try to accomplish this chemistry is pure empathy. I try and put myself in other people's shoes. And I think they translate that into me walking alongside of them.
Remember: client retention is our bread & butter. How are you making sure they can't live without you?

About Me: I have been a professionally licensed Esthetician practicing the Ancient art of Sugaring since 2008. Specializing in body sugaring and pure organic skin care with a holistic approach. As the first sugar spa in the Rogue Valley it has been such a whirlwind and a pleasure to introduce my clients to sugar, and the benefits that come with it. My specialties include speed sugaring and in depth skin care focused on whole body health.
How I became an entrepreneur: I have high standards! It was very natural for me to open my own business, enabling me to treat my clients individually.
How I discovered my passion for Sugaring: I was introduced to sugar in esthetician school and it immediately spoke to me and I know right away that this was going to be my niche. I love how environmentally friendly it is, I love the way my clients skin looks and feels after sugaring. It truly is a superior service and our clients deserve the best!
My Favorite thing about running my own Business: My favorite thing about running my own business is that I'm the boss! I can cater to my clients needs without having to answer to anyone, giving me the ability to give special individual attention to each client.
Why I love sugaring: Hmm so many reasons... I love the hand method of removing hair I feel so in control, I love the way my clients skin looks after a service (remember the welts from waxing?) I use organic fair trade sugar and its compostable! It is so fun to introduce a new client to sugar, they will never go back to wax, and what a good feeling to know that we are introducing them to a superior service.
I am interested in: Results oriented skincare with the focus on clean organic ingredients.
Best piece of advice I can give: Be gentle to yourself, things are hard enough already, we don’t need to make it harder on ourselves by focusing on that pore only you can see in your magnifying mirror!:).
